Small Miracles: Aster & Bay Indigo Therapy Oil

My posts tend to be rather long (I do ramble on, don’t I?), so in this series of short posts I am going to highlight some of my favorite products that pack a strong punch despite their smaller size.

Spend enough time around beauty bloggers and you will realize that we take ingredients seriously. From argan oil to Vitamin C, we all have our favorites – the star ingredients whose presence makes a product that much more special. As for me, I love an exotic oil or a powerful active as much as the next beauty-obsessed gal, but my heart belongs to blue tansy. Also known as Moroccan chamomile, this blue-hued essential oil is profoundly calming, both to the skin and to the mind. Applied topically to the skin, it soothes inflammation, while it’s gently sweet scent eases anxiety and helps me relax. It’s no wonder then that the moment I came across Aster + Bay’s Indigo Therapy Oil while browsing Integrity Botanicals,  I had to add it to my shopping cart.

La Bella Figura: New Releases

As I am discovering, one of the lovely perks of being a beauty blogger is getting to take a first look at the cool new products created by beauty brands. My love for La Bella Figura is well documented, so when I found out that I was being sent a sample of one their new skincare products as well as one of the upcoming makeup releases, I was over the moon. I didn’t have much background on the new skincare product, but between the bronzy gold and the shimmering purple I spied on Instagram, LBF seemed to have created the new color choices just for me.

R.L. Linden Time After Time – The Review

A couple of months ago I won the mother of all Instagram contests: the entire line of products from R.L Linden, a small brand, founded by a pair of herbalists from Colorado. It was the perfect stroke of luck for a newbie beauty blogger: a chance to review one of the most charming and beloved green beauty brands. So why haven’t I done a review? Well, here’s the problem: this might well be the first time since I have started using, well, anything, that I have not only enjoyed, but actually loved every. single. thing created by Robin and Lynn – R.L. Linden’s adorable owners. I suppose it helps that the line is fairly tightly edited, but it’s still pretty remarkable. Faced with so much deliciousness, I was a little overwhelmed (and very grateful I didn’t get the products from a PR – never was I ever more worried about looking like I’m lacking objectivity). Since apparently attempting to do a review of the entire R.L Linden lineup is giving me anxiety, I shall tackle the challenge by taking baby steps. So up first is my review of the Time After Time Frankincense Restoring Serum: the product that, aside from being decidedly wonderful, ended up taking me completely by surprise.

Guest Post: Meet The Englishman

Meet Mr. HH, aka The Englishman, aka my darling husband. He is going to give the “bloke’s perspective” on green beauty. Perhaps, if you enjoy it, we could make him a regular contributor.

Bottles. Bottles everywhere. So much so, that our bathroom looks like the traveling inventory of a nineteenth century Apothecary. You see, being Mister Hermes Hippie has taken me on my own journey of discovery through clean beauty. From boarding the initial flight at skepticism, via a layover at utter disbelief and finally on to my current destination of comfortable acceptance.

My Evening Routine (with Home Spa Bonus)

For some reason, this fall has been one whirling, psychotic, stressful cyclone of insanity (no, I am not prone to drama. Why?). Tiredness, stress and lack of time mean that I haven’t had any time to take care of myself and although even at my most rushed and exhausted, my evening routine tends to be a lot more comprehensive and involved than most people’s, I was starting to miss the indulgence of some luxurious pampering and to feel the effects of its absence on my skin. Which was why last night, with The Bear in bed and The Englishman on a business trip, I decided to treat my skin to a mini-spa experience (and my tired brain to some favorite episodes of Friends). Since I ended my home spa adventures with my standard evening routine, I also thought this might be a good time to share it with you.

Yüli Skincare: the Review

Yüli Skincare is the ultimate cult brand. It seems to almost disdain publicity, it maintains a strictly unisex and minimalist (and terribly chic) aesthetic and it is raved about by beauty bloggers including, most recently, the Cool Girl beauty bible, Into the Gloss. More than cache and cult status, though, what sets Yüli apart is it’s commitment to marrying the best of nature and science to create effective, powerful and beautiful products. Yüli’s oils and elixirs (their name for facial sprays) are amongst the very few products that I repurchase over and over and I am a huge fan of the line.

The Replacements: Josh Rosebrook Styling Cream

In making the switch to green beauty, some products are particularly hard to replace. In this series of posts I will  highlight the treasures discovered during my search for products that work as well, if not better, as their conventional counterparts.

I acknowledge that it may seem excessive for me to feature another Josh Rosebrook product in the Replacements series, but I can’t fight facts: his Styling Cream is, without exaggeration, a life-changing product. My discovery of the Styling Cream, thanks to the recommendation from the lovely Marcy of Naturally Marcy, was a culmination of years spent trying to find the right styling product and at a time when I pretty much despaired of finding anything that would actually work.
